The rules of using Civiums — written in plain English, not legalese. Please read them.
Civiums is a civic engagement platform that helps United States residents find their elected officials at every level of government — federal, state, and local — and communicate with those officials about issues that matter to them.
Our core features include:
By using Civiums, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Representative lookups do not require an account. Creating an account gives you access to additional features like bill alerts, saved representatives, and AI-assisted messaging.
You may maintain one Civiums account per person. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent rate limits or abuse protections is prohibited and will result in termination of all related accounts.
The accuracy of your representative lookup depends on the accuracy of the address you provide. You agree not to enter a false address to obtain representative information for districts in which you do not reside.
You may use Civiums only for lawful civic engagement purposes. The following are strictly prohibited:
Important: Messages that constitute credible threats may be reported to law enforcement. We take user safety and the safety of public officials seriously.
Civiums facilitates civic communication between constituents and elected officials. When you use our messaging features:
Our AI drafting feature helps you write clearer, more effective messages. You remain responsible for the content of any message you send. Review AI-drafted messages before sending — they represent you, not Civiums.
AI-generated content is not legal, political, or professional advice.
Civiums uses artificial intelligence to generate bill summaries, voting record analyses, and message drafts. This content is provided for informational and civic engagement purposes only.
Civiums is not liable for decisions you make based on AI-generated content. Use it as a starting point, not a final authority.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account on Civiums.
If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf, or that they are aware of and consent to your use of Civiums.
Representative lookups without an account are available to all users. Account creation and messaging features require you to be at least 13.
We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts. If we become aware that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will terminate the account and delete the associated data.
You may close your Civiums account at any time by contacting us at civiums@polsia.app or using the in-app account deletion feature (when available). Account deletion is permanent and irreversible.
We may suspend or permanently terminate your account, without notice or liability, if you:
For minor or first-time violations, we may issue a warning or temporary suspension before permanent termination. For serious violations (threats, impersonation, illegal activity), we reserve the right to terminate immediately.
Upon termination, your right to use Civiums ceases immediately. We will delete your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including limitations of liability and governing law) will survive.
The Civiums platform, including its code, design, AI models, and original content, is owned by Civiums and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Public data (voting records, official government information) is not owned by Civiums — it is public information. Our contribution is the organization, summarization, and interface around that data.
You retain ownership of any original content you create (your messages, your account information). By using Civiums, you grant us a limited license to process and deliver that content as necessary to operate the service.
Civiums is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
We do not warrant that:
Government data is sourced from publicly available APIs. Civiums is not responsible for inaccuracies in government-maintained data.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Civiums and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for:
In no event shall our total liability to you for all claims exceed the greater of (a) $50 or (b) the amount you paid to Civiums in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Civiums shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware. By using Civiums, you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Informal resolution first. Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us at civiums@polsia.app and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. Most issues can be resolved quickly this way.
We may update these Terms of Service as the product evolves. When we make material changes:
Your continued use of Civiums after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, stop using Civiums and delete your account.
